Keys to Measuring your Blood Pressure at Home
1. Empty your bladder before starting
2. Make sure your legs are flat on the ground and supported
3. Keep legs uncrossed
4. Rest quietly for 5 minutes before taking the measurement, as speaking or active listening raises your BP reading
5. Place the cuff on your bare arm, above the bend in your elbow
6. Use the correct cuff size and wear loose fitting clothing
7. Make sure your arm is supported and at the heart level
